AI Usage Policy

How we use artificial intelligence responsibly in our editorial and production workflows.

Last reviewed: May 2026

Core Principle

AI tools may assist The World Standard's editorial and production workflows, but human editors remain responsible for editorial judgment, verification, publication, and corrections.

Artificial intelligence is a tool to enhance editorial efficiency and accuracy. It does not replace editorial judgment, human verification, or accountability for published content.

Permitted Uses of AI

The World Standard may use AI tools to assist with:

Research and organization: AI may help organize and summarize information from multiple sources.
Transcription support: AI may assist in transcribing interviews and speeches.
Translation assistance: AI may assist translating content for global coverage.
Formatting and production: AI may help format content and prepare metadata.
Headline and summary assistance: AI may suggest headlines and summaries for review by editors.
SEO metadata preparation: AI may assist in preparing SEO metadata and categorization.
Content categorization: AI may assist in tagging, categorizing, and organizing articles.
Workflow efficiency: AI may assist with scheduling, distribution, and other production tasks.

Prohibited Uses of AI

AI must NOT be used to:

  • Fabricate facts, quotes, sources, documents, statistics, or claims.
  • Generate images, photographs, or video without clear disclosure.
  • Create impersonations or false attributions.
  • Replace human editorial judgment or verification processes.
  • Publish generated content without human review and approval.
  • Circumvent our editorial standards or fact-checking processes.

Verification Requirements

All AI-assisted content must meet our standard editorial verification requirements:

  • Facts must be verified through original sources or credible reporting.
  • Quotes must be checked against original sources or statements.
  • Data and statistics must be verified or properly attributed.
  • Sensitive topics require additional human editorial care and review.

Press Releases and Submitted Content

AI may assist in processing and organizing press releases and submitted content. However, AI does not replace manual review. All press releases are reviewed by humans before publication.

Press releases remain subject to our editorial guidelines and publication standards regardless of AI assistance in processing.

Transparency and Disclosure

The World Standard is transparent about AI use in its journalism:

  • We disclose when AI tools significantly assist in content creation.
  • Generated images or media are clearly marked.
  • Readers understand that human editors are responsible for published content.

Policy Evolution

This policy may evolve as AI tools and standards change. The World Standard remains committed to human editorial responsibility, accuracy, and transparency as our AI practices develop. For questions or concerns about our use of AI, contact editorial@worldstandardnews.com.
